This year was a pivotal year for Kyoto Group. From strengthening our leadership to inaugurating Europe’s largest industrial thermal storage unit, we spent 2025 demonstrating that Heatcube is a scalable powerhouse for industrial thermal energy.
Commercial and operational momentum: The year began with our new CEO Morten BĂĽlow, whose leadership has driven our focus on commercial scaling. We carried this momentum into Hannover Messe 2025 and our expansion into Denmark through a strategic partnership with Hebsgaard | Larsen, making decarbonization more accessible via our Heat-as-a-Service model.
Proven performance: This year also brought scientific validation. The publication of the first peer-reviewed study on Heatcube data confirmed the high energy efficiency we deliver in the field. This culminated in a landmark month in Budapest, where we hosted Thermal Energy Day and inaugurated the 56 MWh unit at KALL Ingredients— a project that will reduce CO2 emissions by 8,000 tons annually.
Preparing for 2026: As we close the year, our focus shifts to the IF25 Heat Auction, where we are actively helping partners secure the funding necessary to realize their sustainability targets. And we are looking ahead to new possibilities and exciting opportunities in the upcoming year.

Germany plans to introduce a reduced industrial electricity price from January 2026 to support energy-intensive industries. To secure long-term impact, at least 50% of the expected cost relief must be reinvested in flexibility technologies, with additional incentives for solutions such as thermal energy storage.
Kyoto already delivers proven business cases that decarbonize and flexibilize steam production, while reducing long-term energy costs.

On the 20th of January 2026, The Kyoto team will be present at the Seville Forum on Machinery for Decarbonization (SFMD).
Andrés Barros Borrero, Head of Technology Center & Country Manager Spain at Kyoto, will be moderating the session: Thermal Energy for Effective Decarbonization, at 13.00.
This 1.5-day event is organized by the University of Seville, is a joint industry-government-academia forum with the primary goal to advance efficient, carbon-neutral and cost-effective technologies for the production and storage of electric power and thermal energy.
