The report, details thermal energy storage and an update to the Net-Zero Power report from 2021. Watch LDES for the report launch and panel discussion with LDES Council members including Kyoto.
Discover and learn more about long duration energy storage from some of the world's experts:
Long Duration Energy Storage (LDES), like the Kyoto Heatcube, is an essential technology to enable renewable energy to power our grids, provide clean heat and accelerate carbon neutrality. It enables surplus energy to be stored from wind, solar and other clean sources to be available when needed.
Through LDES we can transition towards renewable energy in an affordable, reliable, and sustainable way. Wind, solar and other renewables have become the lowest-cost forms of generation but need long duration energy storage to match supply with demand. Evidence shows that in many applications, it is likely to be the most cost-competitive solution for energy storage beyond a duration of six to eight hours.
