Kyoto Group supports Norway's bold plan to ban fossil fuels from industrial heat processes

Norway's initiative to phase out fossil fuels in industrial heat processes by 2030 marks a pivotal step toward cutting global CO2 emissions. With industrial heat responsible for a significant share of these emissions, this decision could accelerate the shift to sustainable energy across industries.

Kyoto Group's former CEO Camilla Nilsson voiced strong support, stating, "This is music to our ears. The alternatives are here, and the path to implementation is clearer than ever. We hope the proposal swiftly becomes regulation and inspires other countries to follow suit."

Kyoto's Heatcube technology stands ready to help industries meet their energy needs (and at significantly lower cost) while drastically reducing carbon emissions. As Norway's fossil fuel ban targets a 300,000-ton reduction in CO2 emissions by 2030, Heatcube is positioned to support industries in meeting these goals efficiently.

Norway's Renewable Energy Paradox: Why Is Progress So Slow?

At Arendalsuka 2024, Camilla Nilsson and industry experts discussed why Norway lags in its domestic renewable energy transition, despite its energy wealth. Nilsson highlighted a paradox: while Norway is a green tech leader, most of Kyoto's 50 clients are abroad, with just two in Norway.

The panel discussed key challenges, including outdated infrastructure, grid limitations, and a lack of supportive policies. Yet, they also pointed to untapped opportunities, like offshore wind, which could change the game if Norway can move past its regulatory and investment hurdles.

What needs to happen for Norway to catch up?
