Kyoto’s mission: Empower industries with renewable thermal energy.

Kyoto's vision: A world powered by Nature.

Who we are

Kyoto is helping industry replace fossil fuels with renewable thermal energy.

We're a growing international company developing thermal energy storage technology that tackles one of the biggest challenges in the energy transition. The work is ambitious, practical and collaborative, and we're looking for people who want to help build both the business and the solution.

Our culture & values

We’re a small, international team, which means the people around you come from different backgrounds and disciplines by nature, not by policy. Everyone here has a direct line to the mission. There’s no layer of hierarchy between what you do and why it matters.

We’re looking for people who care about the outcome, not just the job description. If you’re motivated by solving real problems, want your work to be visible and consequential, and are drawn to being part of something still being built rather than something already finished – then keep reading. Below, you’ll find what that actually looks like day to day, and how our hiring process works.

About the role

We're looking for an experienced Office & People Operations Manager to become Kyoto's trusted operational point of contact in Spain.

You'll own the day-to-day running of our Seville office, support our employees and help the business navigate practical operational matters. From coordinating with local authorities and external partners to welcoming new employees and improving the way we work, you'll be the person people rely on to make things happen.

The role is based in Seville and reports to the Head of People & Culture in Norway. While your primary focus will be Spain, you'll also support People Operations across Europe where processes are shared, helping create a consistent employee experience as Kyoto grows.

No two days will look the same. One day you might be onboarding a new employee. The next you could be coordinating with a notary, working with external advisors, navigating a local administrative process or solving an operational challenge. If something needs figuring out in Spain, there's a good chance you'll be the person leading the way.

What you will own
Office & Business Operations

  • Own the day-to-day running of our Seville office, including facilities, suppliers, equipment and workplace services.
  • Be Kyoto's local operational point of contact in Spain, coordinating with landlords, notaries, public authorities and external partners.
  • Lead local business administration, documentation, registrations and other practical operational matters.
  • Support managers with operational projects and remove obstacles so the business can keep moving.

People Operations

  • Own the employee lifecycle for our Spain-based employees, including recruitment, onboarding and offboarding.
  • Be the first point of contact for employees in Spain, providing day-to-day People support.
  • Maintain HR systems, employee records and People administration.
  • Support shared People Operations across Europe, including onboarding, systems, employee engagement and other cross-functional initiatives.
  • Help ensure our People processes remain compliant with local employment requirements, working closely with Legal and external advisors where needed.

What we are looking for

We're looking for someone who takes pride in making things work. You naturally take ownership and don't wait to be told what needs attention. You see a problem, find a solution and follow it through.

You're organised, practical and calm under pressure. You enjoy juggling different priorities, have high standards for your work and don't let the small details slip.

Most importantly, you have a genuine customer service mindset. You enjoy helping people, creating a great workplace and making life easier for your colleagues. Whether you're supporting a new employee, coordinating with a supplier or working with a local authority, you're responsive, professional and focused on finding solutions.

You'll likely have experience in Office Management, Workplace Operations, People Operations, Executive Support or another operational role where you've coordinated people, processes and priorities.

Experience working with Spanish employment practices is important. Experience supporting employees across multiple European countries or working with EOR arrangements is an advantage.

Fluency in both Spanish and English is essential.

Why Kyoto?

We're a growing company building something ambitious. That means priorities change, the work is real and not every answer already exists. People who thrive here take ownership, adapt quickly and enjoy solving problems. You'll often need to make decisions before you have every piece of information.

The upside is that your work will have a visible impact. You'll help shape how Kyoto operates, not just carry out someone else's plan.

If that sounds like the kind of environment where you'd do your best work, we'd love to hear from you.

About us

Kyoto Group

Founded in 2016, Kyoto is a Norwegian company dedicated to harnessing the vast potential of variable renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind power. Our mission is to leverage this clean energy to reduce the CO2 emissions associated with industrial thermal loads significantly. We are pioneering the integration of thermal sales and flexibility into a single product, positioning Kyoto as a competitive leader in the thermal industry. Our unique approach allows us to offer both heat sales and flexibility solutions, making a sustainable future more attainable.

Market & Products

Kyoto's core strategy involves selling and operating Heatcube thermal batteries, which enable industrial consumption of low-cost heat derived from surplus solar and wind energy (i.e., during periods of low-priced electricity). Additionally, Kyoto operates an Energy Management System—a remote-control solution that optimises renewable energy consumption for cost efficiency and carbon neutrality. Our dual focus is to provide end-users with an affordable, carbon-neutral heat product while offering balancing services and flexibility solutions to power producers and grid operators.

Culture & Values

At Kyoto Group, our values are the cornerstone of our identity, guiding our daily actions. We deeply care for our people and planet, reflecting our commitment to a sustainable future. Our unwavering determination fuels our ambition, driving us to focus on solutions instead of problems. We approach every endeavour dedicated to making a positive impact with enthusiasm and passion.
