Where clean Heat meets spring momentum

From real-world Industry updates from KALL Ingredients to a novel approach in decarbonizing a painkiller, this month we’re spotlighting the innovations driving clean heat in complex industries.

We take a closer look at the energy demands of pharmaceutical manufacturing through the Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Initiative (PSCI) latest playbook, while illustrating how Heatcube is delivering impact on the ground. This month also marks exciting growth at Kyoto Group — with new positions open across our team and the addition of Christina Aabo to our Board of Directors, strengthening our journey toward industrial decarbonization.

Scroll down for project milestones, strategic insights, and a deeper dive into what it takes to decarbonize heat-intensive sectors.

How to decarbonize a painkiller

Have you ever considered the carbon footprint behind a simple pill?

Industrial heat is a silent backbone of pharmaceutical manufacturing, yet it’s often left out of the decarbonization conversation. This article explores how decarbonized process heat can dramatically reduce emissions in pharma production — without compromising reliability or output. It reframes the painkiller not just as a product, but as a symbol of a broader industry shift.

From field to facility: real lessons from Hungary.
At KALL Ingredients, a food ingredient manufacturer, Heatcube is already making a tangible impact. Their real-world experience shows how scalable thermal storage isn’t just a concept — it's on the verge of cutting emissions and demonstrating the true value of decarbonized process heat.

#2 Heatcube site update | KALL Ingredients

Momentum continues to build at KALL Ingredients Heatcube site as mechanical completion activities move into their final stages. The molten salt piping system is being fully reinstated, with the last round of hydrotesting now underway. At the same time, installation of the water and steam system is approaching completion, and hydrotests have already started.

Key equipment milestones have also been reached, with insulation and cladding of the molten salt storage tanks now finalized.

Next, the team will focus on completing the heat tracing for the molten salt piping system and preparing for the next major phase: the filling process.
