KALL update jan 2025

Advancements at KALL Ingredients Heatcube

Exciting developments are happening on-site at KALL Ingredients as we move closer to the completion of our second European Heatcube. Here's the latest:

Mechanical milestones: All the main mechanical components are now installed, and the focus is on the piping system for molten salt—our primary mechanical task at this stage.

Electrical and instrumentation advances: Alongside the mechanical work, significant progress has been made on electrical and instrumentation installations. For the nitty gritty, large parts of the cableways are already in place, and the first cables have been successfully pulled!

Heat Tracing System: The finalization of the heat tracing system for the main equipment is well underway, ensuring critical temperature control.

What’s Next: With the piping system progressing towards completion, the next major milestone is initiating the insulation works—an exciting step forward in our journey!

We’re proud of the teamwork and dedication driving the KALL Heatcube project forward. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue making strides toward final completion!

Industry trends: Progress in Decarbonizing the Chemical Industry

The chemical industry plays a critical role in global manufacturing, contributing to 96% of all manufactured goods. As such, efforts to reduce scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions in this sector have the potential to significantly impact nearly every product value chain.

Between 2018 and 2022, the industry's greenhouse gas intensity decreased by 7.4%, while energy efficiency improved by 6.9%. During the same period, the number of chemical companies reporting scope 1 and 2 emissions increased by 46%, now representing more than 50% of the industry. Similarly, scope 3 emissions reporting grew by an impressive 83%, covering over 30% of the sector.

Looking ahead, the journey toward decarbonization in the chemical industry will likely hinge on three pivotal factors by 2025:

  • Access to round-the-clock, cost-effective clean energy.
  • Policy changes driving sustainability.
  • The ability of companies to create value across ecosystems and support sustainable investments.

The industry's progress is not only encouraging but also critical for building a sustainable future across global value chains.
