Heat-as-a-Service Project at KALL Ingredients: Pioneering thermal energy in Hungary

Kyoto Group is making great strides in our partnership with KALL Ingredients to deliver sustainable thermal energy through Heatcube technology. This collaboration, which began with a commercial agreement in November 2023, aims to revolutionize energy use at KALL Ingredients’ facility in Hungary.

By April 2024, the project hit a key milestone with the foundation laid for Heatcube installation. Just a few months later, in July 2024, critical components like the boiler, steam generator, and tanks were in place. August 2024 saw further progress with the installation of all eight molten salt tanks and other essential equipment, setting the stage for full completion by the end of 2024.

Now we're excited to showcase this collaboration on our new KALL project page, where you can read more about the project background, the timeline and technical specifications.

Fully capitalized and ready to drive industrial decarbonization

Kyoto Group has officially been de-listed and are working closely with our new majority owner, Glentra, a leading Danish energy fund. This partnership marks a pivotal moment for Kyoto Group as we are now fully capitalized and positioned to execute our long-term strategy with even greater efficiency and impact.

Glentra is deeply committed to accelerating the green transition through innovative decarbonization solutions and energy efficiency technologies. Their mission is to support industries in reducing carbon footprints and achieving sustainability goals—ideals that align perfectly with Kyoto Group’s vision. With anchor investors like Novo Holdings and pension company PKA, Glentra brings not only financial strength but a steadfast commitment to promoting sustainable, environmentally friendly technologies.

As we move forward, the collaboration between Kyoto Group and Glentra enables us to further scale our innovative technology Heatcube and solution Heat-as-a-Service (HaaS) and drive meaningful change in industrial decarbonization. Together, we are poised to lead the charge towards a greener, more sustainable future for industries across Europe and beyond.

Industrial Demand Respons image

The ÂŁ1 Billion Dilemma: Why is renewable energy going to waste?

In 2022, the UK spent ÂŁ1 billion on curtailing renewable energy. These funds, which could have supported housing, healthcare, or education, were instead used due to inefficiencies in energy storage systems.

Although the UK generates significant amounts of clean energy, the lack of effective storage solutions means that wind turbines are often left idle, and older gas plants are still relied upon to meet demand. This not only impacts finances but also has serious environmental consequences—an issue faced by many European countries.

Kyoto Group CEO, Camilla Nilsson, emphasizes the critical need for improved energy management and advanced storage technologies to make full use of renewable resources.

WindEnergy Hamburg

Kyoto's Chief Business Development Officer Tim de Haas took part in a panel discussion on "Accelerating industry electrification" on the Energy transition stage at Hamburg Messe and Congress during this year's WindEnergy Hamburg, 25th of September.

Industry uses about 40% of energy and generates 25% of greenhouse gas emissions globally. A lot of these emissions come from burning fossil fuels for the generation of heat, an essential element in many industrial processes. Heat generation can also be done with renewable electricity, but costs remain high. Thermal energy storage (TES) could help to solve this. This panel discussion brought up concrete examples from the chemicals and paper industries.
